Centrally located in the land between the seas
Just about 20 km away from Gut Apeldör lies the Little Amsterdam of the North – a place of longing for many travellers with its winding alleys and idyllic canals. Centuries-old Dutch buildings and gorgeous Frisian doors give the town its charm. Whether on a city tour or on your own – Friedrichstadt is definitely worth a visit.
Schleswig-Holstein, also known as the last adventure of Europe, offers a lot of potential to fascinate and challenge even the experienced hiker. On the tracks of the Vikings near Schleswig, with the lambs behind the dike or simply across the “platte Land”, you do something for your well-being and health. With the North Sea wind around your nose, many people feel as if they have put on their seven-mile boots. In addition, the climate is said to be particularly good for the respiratory tract and metabolism. So what is there to wait for?
There is a good argument for cycling in our area: the land is flat and (sometimes) there is a tailwind. There is hardly a better way to explore the surroundings. Small lakes, wide fields and the salt air ensure clear thoughts and a clear head. It’s not for nothing that Schleswig-Holstein has made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List. The bikes can also be rented directly from us if desired.
Using the North Sea wind in a really sensible way is also possible: the Meldorfer Bucht offers plenty of space for kitesurfing and stand-up paddling, in the immediate vicinity there is the possibility of windsurfing and mudflat tours are also possible. The very brave can also go for a swim with the locals. Of course, only when it is high tide.
Here you will find, among other things, the Multimar-Wattforum and a large fish market, if you want to enjoy regional. Walk along the water or learn more about the Wadden Sea – this is also an experience for the little ones, as you can meet some mudflat inhabitants in person and even look a lugworm in the eye.
